Did you know that most utilities are buried less than 3 feet below the surface? No matter how small the project, if you plan on digging call 811 before you dig! Missouri One Call can help you avoid an accident. Underground utility lines may be near where you are planning to dig. Missouri One Call personnel will notify CLGW who will locate and mark underground utility lines for free so you can avoid hitting them when digging. This service will help you avoid injury or disruption of service that may occur if utility lines are damaged.

Electric Department

Utility Work

CLGW’s Electric Department maintains more than 200 miles of electric lines within the City of Kennett. These lines, both overhead and underground, supply electricity to approximately 6,000 businesses and residential customers within the city. The Electric Department installs new lines, builds new underground services, and maintains and services our existing lines. Crew members within the Electric Department are devoted to trimming trees in order to keep a safe area around the power lines for a reasonable amount of time.

CLGW’s electric crews pride themselves in providing safe and reliable power for all citizens. While outages are rare, our dedicated crews will work in any kind of weather to restore electric power to our customers. They respond to emergency calls twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week to keep the lights on.

Tree Trimming

The trees in this area grow very fast. CLGW tree trimming crew members trim a sufficient area around the lines so that limbs are not blown into our lines during periods of high winds such as thunderstorms causing a power outage. Likewise, in the event of an ice storm, the ice on the tree limbs can cause them to become heavy and sag and touch the lines causing power outages.
