Power Plant
Department Manager: Allen Jones
The Kennett Municipal Power Plant began serving the electric power requirements of the City of Kennett in March of 1942. The plant maintains adequate generating facilities to provide our customers with the power they need.
The Power Plant personnel perform duties to ensure that electrical power is available for each customer. These duties include maintaining the generating plant and manning the control room that monitors electric power being delivered throughout the city. They also man a 24-hour service. This service is available 7 days a week 365 days of the year to answer any emergency calls for the Water Treatment Plant at night, weekends and holidays. Among the duties performed by the staff are mechanical, electrical, painting, roofing, plumbing, welding and millwright. As the economy grows, so does the demand for electricity.
Although extensive training may be required for specific functions, training in math, any phase for the electrical field, mechanics, or a work history in any of these fields is helpful.
