Did you know that most utilities are buried less than 3 feet below the surface? No matter how small the project, if you plan on digging call 811 before you dig! Missouri One Call can help you avoid an accident. Underground utility lines may be near where you are planning to dig. Missouri One Call personnel will notify CLGW who will locate and mark underground utility lines for free so you can avoid hitting them when digging. This service will help you avoid injury or disruption of service that may occur if utility lines are damaged.

Power Plant

CLGW’s Power Plant, formally known as Kennett Municipal Power Plant, began serving the electric power needs of the City of Kennett in March of 1942. The Power Plant continues to serve Kennett and is used to generate power for the city when the market prices of power are too high or when power is interrupted from our power supplier.

CLGW’s 40 Megawatt Power Plant currently houses thirteen generators. The Power Plant operators are committed to keeping CLGW’s generators in prime condition in order to supply power to Kennett at any given hour throughout the year. Each generator has at least ten pumps, motors, and blowers. They each have compressors with miles of piping, valves, and regulators that supply the appropriate air, water, oil, and fuel to produce electric power to the residents of Kennett. On a regular basis, the Power Plant operators maintain and service the generators as well as the associated equipment that keep the generators running. The Power Plant operators also manage the control room that monitors the electric power being delivered throughout the city.

Power Plant

In addition, the Power Plant operators monitor the Water Treatment Plant after business hours, on the holidays, and on the weekends. They are also responsible for the maintenance and service repair for CLGW’s fleet of vehicles and heavy equipment. CLGW’s Power Plant is staffed twenty-four hours a day, 365 days a year.

If you need assistance after hours, the call will be answered by an on-duty power plant operator.
